Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, milk, egg, ketchup, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined.
- Transfer the mixture to a lightly greased loaf pan or shape it into a loaf on a baking sheet.
- Bake for about 60 minutes or until a meat thermometer reads 160°F (70°C).
- Let the meatloaf rest for about 10 minutes before slicing.
Notes
For substitutions, ground turkey or chicken can be used instead of ground beef. Always let the meatloaf rest after baking to retain juices. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat in the oven at 350°F for about 20 minutes or use the microwave covered to maintain moisture.
