Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed bananas, unsweetened applesauce, honey or maple syrup, and vanilla extract. Stir until the mix is smooth.
- In another bowl, whisk together the protein powder, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt until well mixed.
- Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined. Remember, over-mixing can lead to tough brownies!
- Pour your brownie batter into a greased 8×8-inch baking dish, spreading it evenly.
- Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for about 20-25 minutes. The brownies are done when a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
- Allow the brownies to cool in the pan before cutting them into squares.
Notes
Store brownies in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week or in the freezer for up to three months. Reheat in the microwave for 10-15 seconds for best texture. Consider adding mini dark chocolate chips or chopped walnuts for extra crunch.
