Ingredients
  

Main ingredients
  • 1 block firm tofu (14 oz) Press and drain the tofu before use.
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 teaspoon ginger (minced)
  • 2 green onions (sliced) For garnish.
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1-2 chili peppers (optional for a spicy kick) Add for extra heat.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Drain and press the firm tofu to eliminate excess moisture and slice into even cubes about 1-inch thick.
Cooking
  1. Heat sesame oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the tofu cubes in a single layer and sauté for about 5-7 minutes until golden and slightly crispy.
  3. In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, minced garlic, minced ginger, sugar, and water until the sugar is dissolved.
  4. Pour the sauce over the tofu in the skillet and mix gently to coat. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 10 minutes.
  5. Just before serving, sprinkle sliced green onions over the tofu and add sliced chili peppers if desired.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat on the stovetop or microwave.
