Ingredients

For the patties
  • 1 pound Ground beef (80/20 blend for great juiciness)
  • 1/2 cup Korean BBQ sauce (halal-certified option)
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced Adds a robust flavor
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black pepper For seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt To taste
For assembling
  • 4 pieces Buns (whole grain or sesame)
  • 1/4 cup Spicy mayo (mix mayonnaise with chili sauce)
  • 2 pieces Green onions, chopped (for garnish)
  • 1/4 cup Fresh cilantro, chopped (for that fresh finish)

Method

Preparation
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, Korean BBQ sauce, minced garlic, black pepper, and salt. Mix until just combined—overmixing can lead to tough burgers.
  2. Shape the mixture into four equally-sized patties. Make a small indentation in the center of each patty to prevent them from puffing up while cooking.
Cooking
  1. Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat. You want it hot enough to create a nice sear.
  2. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness. Be careful not to press down on them while cooking, as this releases juices.
  3. During the last minute, add the cheese on top of the patties (if using) and cover to allow it to melt.
Assembly
  1. Spread spicy mayo on the bottom half of the bun, add the beef patty, top with kimchi and shredded cabbage, and sprinkle with chopped green onions and cilantro. Finish with the top bun.
Serving
  1. Serve and enjoy your Korean BBQ Burgers with friends and family!

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days, or freeze them for up to a month. To reheat, warm on a skillet over low heat or in the microwave on a low setting to avoid overcooking.
