  • 1 cup rice Short or medium-grain rice works best.
  • 200 g King Oyster mushrooms, sliced Can substitute with Shiitake or Portobello mushrooms.
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce Enhances flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil For cooking and flavor.
  • 2 pieces green onions, chopped For garnish and flavor.
  • Salt and pepper to taste Season to enhance flavors.
  • Optional: Sesame seeds for garnish Adds crunch.

Method
 

Cooking the Rice
  1. Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.
  2. Cook the rice according to package directions or in a rice cooker until fluffy.
Preparing the Mushrooms
  1. In a large skillet, heat one tablespoon of sesame oil over medium heat.
  2. Add the sliced King Oyster mushrooms and sauté for about 5-7 minutes, or until golden brown and tender.
Flavoring the Mushrooms
  1. Mix in the soy sauce along with salt and pepper to taste, stirring well to combine.
Assembling the Bowl
  1. When the rice is ready, fluff it using a fork and divide it into serving bowls.
  2. Top the rice generously with the sautéed King Oyster mushrooms.
Garnishing and Serving
  1. Finish with freshly chopped green onions and a sprinkle of sesame seeds for added crunch.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Best reheated in a pan with a bit of sesame oil to retain texture.
