Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup popcorn kernels Use high-quality kernels for the best results.
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil Coconut oil or canola oil can be used as alternatives.
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar For a sweeter taste, adjust the sugar amount as desired.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt Sprinkle to taste.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large, heavy-bottomed pot, pour the vegetable oil and heat it over medium-high heat for a minute or two.
  2. Once the oil is hot, add the popcorn kernels to the pot and cover with a lid, leaving a small gap for steam to escape.
  3. Shake the pot gently back and forth on the burner. Keep shaking occasionally until the popping slows, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. In a separate small saucepan, combine the granulated sugar over medium heat. Allow it to melt gently but do not stir until it starts to bubble and turn golden, about 4-5 minutes.
  5. Once the popcorn has mostly popped, remove it from the heat and carefully drizzle the melted sugar over the popcorn. Toss using a wooden spoon to coat.
  6. Spread the popcorn onto parchment paper or a baking sheet to cool and harden.
  7. Serve the popcorn warm and enjoy!

Notes

Store leftover popcorn in an airtight container for up to 1 week. Reheat in the microwave for 10 seconds to regain crunch.
