  • 1 medium head green cabbage, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter Don't skimp on the butter for best flavor.
  • 1 pound sausage (your choice, ideally a savory version) Can use chicken, turkey, or meat alternatives.
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2-3 cloves garlic, minced Adjust garlic to taste.

Preparation
  1. Start by washing and chopping the cabbage into thin strips. Dice the onion and mince the garlic for maximum flavor.
Cooking
  1. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat until it’s bubbly and fragrant.
  2. Add the sausage to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula, and cook until browned and cooked through, approximately 7-10 minutes.
  3. Incorporate the diced onion and minced garlic into the skillet. Cook until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.
  4. Slowly stir in the chopped cabbage, mixing well with the sausage and onion mixture. Cook for an additional 10-15 minutes until the cabbage is tender and caramelized.
  5. Sprinkle salt, pepper, and any additional spices you’d like. Stir once more, taste, and adjust the seasoning if necessary.
  6. Remove from heat and serve immediately. Enjoy the deliciousness while it’s hot!

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days, or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat in a pan or microwave.
