Ingredients

Tea Base
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons green tea leaves
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
Milk and Sweetener
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2-4 tablespoons sugar to taste
Optional Garnishes
  • Cardamom pods optional for added flavor
  • Pistachios or almonds for garnish

Method

Preparation
  1. Begin by adding 2 cups of water to a saucepan and bring it to a boil over medium heat.
  2. Once boiling, add 2 tablespoons of green tea leaves and 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda. Stir gently and let it simmer for about 10 minutes.
  3. After 10 minutes, remove the saucepan from heat and strain the tea into another pot or container to remove the leaves.
  4. Pour the strained tea back into the saucepan, then add 2 cups of milk and 2-4 tablespoons of sugar according to your taste preference.
  5. If desired, toss in a few cardamom pods for added flavor.
Whisking and Serving
  1. Bring the mixture back to a gentle boil, whisking it carefully. This incorporates air, vital for achieving the pink hue.
  2. Once the tea becomes frothy and pink, remove it from the heat.
  3. Pour the tea into your favorite cups and garnish with crushed pistachios or almonds.

Notes

Store leftover tea in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. Reheat gently on the stovetop to avoid altering the texture.
