Preparation
- In a large bowl, combine the vital wheat gluten, nutritional yeast, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the soy sauce, olive oil, and vegetable broth. Slowly pour this mixture into the dry ingredients.
- Mix until the ingredients form a dough. Knead it for about 3-5 minutes until you have a firm but stretchy texture.
- Form the dough into a chicken-like shape.
Cooking
- In a pot of simmering water or vegetable broth, gently place the seitan. Let it simmer for about 30-40 minutes.
- Once cooked, let it cool slightly, then slice it into pieces.
- Heat a little oil in a skillet and sear those slices until golden brown on both sides.
- Enjoy your Juicy Vegan Seitan Chicken on its own, in wraps, or with your favorite sides!
Notes
Storing and reheating tips: Keep in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days or freeze for up to a month. To reheat, sauté in a skillet with olive oil.
