Preparation
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground meat, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, minced garlic, egg, milk, salt, and pepper. Mix until everything is well integrated.
- With clean hands, roll the mixture into 1-inch meatballs and place them on a plate.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the honey and BBQ sauce until fully blended.
- Place the meatballs in the crockpot and pour the honey-BBQ sauce evenly over the top.
- Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours, depending on your schedule.
- Once cooked, serve these meatballs on their own, over rice, or in a sandwich. Garnish with optional green onions or sesame seeds.
Notes
For substitution options, ground turkey or chickpeas can be used for a vegetarian option. Check the meatballs 30 minutes before the cooking time ends to prevent overcooking. Ensure to combine all ingredients thoroughly to maintain the meatballs' integrity during cooking. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat in the microwave or in a saucepan with a little sauce.
