Ingredients

Dough Ingredients
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese or your favorite cheese
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese softened
  • 2-3 pieces fresh jalapeños seeded and finely chopped (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 piece egg
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs for coating

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine all-purpose flour, baking powder, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until well mixed.
  3. Add shredded cheddar cheese, softened cream cheese, and chopped jalapeños into the dry mixture. Stir until everything is evenly coated.
  4. Crack an egg into the mixture and combine until a dough forms. It should be a little sticky but pliable enough to shape.
  5. Dust your hands with some flour and form the dough into small squares or rectangles about 1-inch thick.
  6. Roll each square in the breadcrumbs for an extra crispy layer.
  7. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange the squares in a single layer, making sure they aren’t touching.
Baking
  1. Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
  2. Allow them to cool slightly before serving to enhance the flavors and texture.

Notes

Adjust spice levels by adding more jalapeños or cayenne pepper for more kick. Different cheeses can be used for varied flavors. Don’t skip cooling time for better texture.
