Ingredients

Main ingredients
  • 1 tube refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1 pound Italian sausage, cooked and crumbled
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare a 9x13-inch baking dish by greasing it lightly.
  2. Roll out the refrigerated crescent roll dough on a clean surface, and press it into the bottom of the prepared baking dish, forming a crust.
  3. In a skillet, cook the Italian sausage over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat and then spread it evenly over the crescent roll crust.
  4. Pour the marinara sauce over the sausage layer, ensuring it’s evenly distributed.
  5. In a mixing bowl, combine the eggs, mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, black pepper, and salt. Mix well to create a creamy filling.
  6. Pour the cheese mixture over the sausage and marinara layers, spreading evenly.
  7. Bake the casserole in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and the casserole is set.
  8. Allow to cool slightly before slicing and serving. Enjoy!

Notes

Consider trying different types of cheese like provolone or fontina for a unique twist. Use fresh basil or red pepper flakes as toppings for added flavor. Adjust baking time based on oven variances.
