Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan with a little butter or line it with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened unsalted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each is well incorporated before adding the next. Then stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
- Gently fold in the shredded coconut, chopped pecans, and melted German chocolate until evenly distributed.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
Baking
- Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for about 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Allow the bars to cool in the pan for at least 10 minutes before slicing into squares.
Serving
- Enjoy warm, or let them cool completely for a firmer texture.
Notes
Consider substituting nuts or using desiccated coconut for a different texture. Don't overbake to ensure they'll be soft in the middle.
