Ingredients

For the Trifle Layers
  • 1 package ladyfingers or sponge cake slices
  • 2 cups mixed berries (e.g., strawberries, blueberries, raspberries) Use fresh, in-season berries for the best flavor.
  • 2 cups vanilla pudding or custard Can use homemade custard.
  • 1 cup whipped cream For topping.
  • to taste mint leaves For garnish, optional.

Method

Preparation
  1. Prepare the vanilla custard according to package instructions or use homemade if preferred.
  2. Rinse the mixed berries under cold water. Gently pat them dry and slice larger strawberries for a festive presentation.
Assembly
  1. In mini trifle cups, add a layer of ladyfingers or sponge cake at the bottom.
  2. Spoon a generous layer of vanilla custard over the cake.
  3. Top with a layer of mixed berries, spreading them out evenly over the custard.
  4. Continue layering the cake, custard, and berries until you reach the top of the cups.
  5. Top each trifle with a dollop of whipped cream and a few extra berries for garnish.
Chill
  1. For the best flavor and texture, chill the trifles in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Notes

These trifles can be stored in the refrigerator, covered, for up to three days. Avoid freezing them as fresh berries and whipped cream may not do well.
