Ingredients

  • 1 pre-made pie crust store-bought or homemade
  • 1 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips optional, but recommended!

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). This ensures an evenly cooked pie.
  • Prepare the Pie Crust: If you’re using a store-bought pie crust, fit it into a pie dish and set it aside. If you're feeling adventurous, make your own from scratch!
  • Mix the Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter and granulated sugar until combined. Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined. If you’re adding chocolate chips, fold them in now.
  • Pour into the Pie Crust: Pour the brownie batter into your prepared pie crust, spreading it evenly.
  • Bake: Place the pie in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs (not wet batter).
  • Cool and Serve: Allow the pie to cool for at least 20 minutes before slicing. Serve it warm or at room temperature with your preferred toppings!
