Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour For the base of the bread
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda For leavening
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon Adds warmth and flavor
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt To enhance flavors
Wet Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened Provides moisture and richness
  • 1 cup granulated sugar For sweetness
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar For added flavor depth
  • 2 large eggs Binding ingredient
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract For flavor
Main Ingredients
  • 3 cups peeled and chopped apples Use slightly tart apples like Granny Smith for contrast
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional) Adds crunch and flavor

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a loaf pan by greasing it or lining it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt. Whisk them together until evenly mixed.
  3. In another mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until it becomes light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the dry mixture to the creamed mixture, stirring just until blended.
  6. Fold in the chopped apples and walnuts (if using). Be gentle to maintain the texture.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.
Baking
  1. Place the pan in the oven and allow to bake for about 60-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  2. Once baked, remove from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For perfect bread, avoid over-stirring to keep it light. Store leftovers in an airtight container; can freeze for up to 3 months.
