Preparation
  1. In a small saucepan, pour the milk and set it over medium heat. Stir occasionally to prevent it from scorching and ensure that it heats evenly.
  2. Once the milk is steaming but not boiling, whisk in the cocoa powder and sugar until fully dissolved. Make sure there are no lumps and you achieve a smooth, velvety mixture.
  3. Stir in the vanilla extract for that extra touch of flavor.
  4. Pour your hot chocolate into a cozy mug. Top it off with a generous swirl of whipped cream, then sprinkle with chocolate shavings or drop in some marshmallows.

Notes
