Ingredients

For the chicken
  • 4 pieces Chicken thighs or 2 breasts, boneless and skinless
  • 1/3 cup Honey
  • 4 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup Soy Sauce (ensure it's Halal)
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper
  • 2 pieces Green Onions, sliced (for garnish)

Method

Preparation
  1. Pat your chicken thighs or breasts dry with paper towels to ensure that they become crispy as they cook.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, olive oil, salt, and pepper to make the marinade.
  3. Place the chicken in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over it. Cover and let it sit for at least 15 minutes to absorb the flavors.
Cooking
  1. Heat up a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the marinated chicken. Cook for 7-8 minutes on each side until the chicken is golden brown and fully cooked through.
  2. After cooking the chicken, lower the heat slightly and pour any leftover marinade into the pan. Let it simmer for a few minutes to thicken and develop richer flavor.
  3. Return the chicken to the pan, spoon some sauce over it, and sprinkle with sliced green onions before serving hot.

Notes

For a healthier alternative, consider using low-sodium soy sauce or agave syrup instead of honey. Avoid overcooking the chicken for a juicy texture. Allow the chicken to rest after cooking for the best results. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 2 months.
