  • 4 large russet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced Choose starchy potatoes for best results.
  • 2 cups heavy cream For a rich and creamy sauce.
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese Provides great flavor.
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese Adds creaminess.
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced Enhances flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons butter For greasing the baking dish.
  • to taste Salt and pepper Season according to preference.
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional) For a touch of color.

Method
 

Preparation and Baking
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with butter.
  3. Spread half of the sliced potatoes in an even layer in the prepared baking dish.
  4. In a saucepan, heat the heavy cream with minced garlic over medium heat. Bring it to a slight simmer, then remove from heat and stir in the cheeses until melted and combined. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Pour half of the creamy sauce over the first layer of potatoes. Add the remaining potatoes on top and pour the rest of the sauce over them, ensuring everything is covered.
  6. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the top is golden and bubbly.
  7. Let it rest for a few minutes before garnishing with fresh parsley and serving warm.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days. To reheat, warm in the oven at 350°F (175°C). Can be frozen for up to 3 months. Thaw and reheat as needed.
