  • 4 medium ripe tomatoes, diced Ensure the tomatoes are at their ripeness for maximum flavor.
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1-2 pieces jalapeños, seeds removed and finely chopped Adjust for spice level.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup cilantro, chopped
  • 1 juice lime Juice of one fresh lime.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt Adjust to taste.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Wash and dice the tomatoes into small pieces. Remove any excess seeds to avoid a watery salsa.
  2. Finely chop the onion and garlic. If using jalapeños, remove the seeds and dice them.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, onions, jalapeños, and minced garlic. Toss together for an even mix.
  4. Stir in the chopped cilantro and squeeze lime juice over the mixture. Season with salt and taste it.
  5. Allow the salsa to sit for at least 10 minutes to let the flavors meld.
  6. Serve with tortilla chips, on tacos, or as a garnish for grilled meats.

Notes

Feel free to substitute ingredients for personal preference. Refrigerate in an airtight container for up to three days, or freeze for longer storage. To reheat, warm gently in a saucepan.
