  • 4 pieces ripe tomatoes, diced Use seasonal tomatoes for best flavor.
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped
  • 1 piece jalapeño, seeded and minced Adjust quantity for desired heat.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped Can substitute with parsley if desired.
  • 1 piece lime, juiced Provides acidity; adjust to taste.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Start by dicing your tomatoes and chopping your onion. Finely mince your jalapeño and garlic.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, chopped onion, minced jalapeño, and garlic. Stir gently.
  3. Fold in the chopped cilantro.
  4. Squeeze lime juice into the bowl, and sprinkle salt to taste.
  5. Mix well and taste. Adjust seasoning with extra lime juice or salt if necessary.
  6. Let the salsa rest in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes before serving.
  7. Serve chilled with tortilla chips, grilled meats, or over rice.

Notes

Homemade Salsa is best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Freeze for up to 2 months for longer storage.
