  • 1 can (15 oz) crushed tomatoes Ensure they are ripe and flavorful.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced Minced to avoid lumps.
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • 1 tablespoon sugar (optional) For sweetness preference.

Preparation
  1. Gather all your ingredients. Make sure your crushed tomatoes are ready, and the garlic is minced to avoid lumps in your sauce.
Cooking
  1. In a medium skillet, heat the 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat.
  2. Once the oil is shimmering, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until it’s fragrant. Be careful not to burn it!
  3. Stir in the crushed tomatoes until well combined.
  4. Sprinkle in the dried oregano, dried basil, and add salt and pepper to taste. If you like a hint of sweetness, mix in the optional tablespoon of sugar.
  5. Reduce the heat to low and let your sauce simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Before using, taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning if needed.
  7. Your homemade pizza sauce is now ready to spread over your favorite dough!

Notes

Consider using fresh herbs during summer for added depth. This sauce can be refrigerated for about 5 days or frozen for up to 3 months. Reheat gently to preserve flavors.
