  • 4 cups fresh peaches, sliced Use ripe peaches for the best flavor.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar Divided into two 1/2 cup servings.
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice Enhances the peach flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon Adds warmth and spice.
Batter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk Use whole milk or milk of your choice.
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted For richness in flavor.
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder Leavening agent for the batter.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt Enhances the flavors.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, combine sliced peaches, 1/2 cup of sugar, lemon juice, and ground cinnamon. Stir well and set aside.
Make the Batter
  1. In another bowl, whisk together flour, remaining 1/2 cup of sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Gradually stir in milk until smooth, then fold in melted butter.
Assemble
  1. Pour the batter into a greased baking dish and spoon the peach mixture over the top evenly.
Bake
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for about 45-50 minutes or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
Serve
  1. Allow to cool slightly before serving. Garnish with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream if desired.
