Ingredients
  

For the cheese sauce
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese Use high-quality cheese for best results.
  • 1 cup milk Adjust for desired creaminess.
  • 2 tablespoons butter Melted to create the roux.
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour Used for thickening.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper Optional for heat.

Method
 

Preparation of Cheese Sauce
  1. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  2. Once melted, add the flour and whisk together for about a minute until it forms a smooth, bubbly mixture.
  3. Gradually add the milk, whisking continuously until smooth. Keep stirring until the mixture thickens slightly.
  4. Reduce the heat to low, and slowly stir in the cheddar cheese. Keep mixing until the cheese is completely melted and the sauce is creamy.
  5. Add the garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, and salt. Stir well to combine all the flavors.
  6. Serve warm alongside crunchy tortilla chips or drizzle it over your nacho creations.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently on low heat with a splash of milk to restore creaminess.
