Preparation
- Start by washing and chopping the green apples into small pieces.
- In a medium saucepan, combine the chopped apples and water. Bring to a gentle boil over medium heat.
- Once boiling, stir in the sugar and lemon juice.
- Lower the heat and simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- If desired, stir in the ground cinnamon at this stage.
- Remove from heat and strain the syrup using a fine mesh strainer or cheese cloth.
- Allow the syrup to cool before sealing in a jar.
Notes
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2-3 weeks. Can be frozen for up to 6 months.
