Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or dark) Choose halal options.
  • 1 cup crunchy rice cereal
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter (creamy or crunchy) Choose halal options.
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Method

Preparation
  1. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the chocolate chips and peanut butter. Heat in the microwave at 30-second intervals, stirring in between until everything is smoothly melted and combined.
  2. Stir in the honey and vanilla extract into the melted mixture, ensuring everything is incorporated well.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, add the crunchy rice cereal, then pour the melted chocolate-peanut butter mixture over it. Using a spatula, gently fold the cereal until it is fully coated.
  4. Line an 8×8-inch baking dish with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal. Transfer the mixture into the prepared dish and press it down firmly to create an even layer.
  5. Place the baking dish in the refrigerator for about 1-2 hours or until set.
  6. Once the mixture is firm, remove it from the pan using the parchment paper overhang. Cut into squares and enjoy your delicious homemade crunch bars!

Notes

For a nut-free version, swap the peanut butter for sunflower seed butter, or use almond butter for a twist. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for about 1 week, in the fridge for 2-3 weeks, or freeze for up to 3 months.
