Ingredients

Crêpe Batter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 pieces eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter Ensure it's halal-certified or use plant-based butter for a dairy-free option.
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar optional for sweet crêpes

Method

Preparation
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of all-purpose flour and 1/4 teaspoon of salt.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together 2 eggs, 1 cup of milk, and 2 tablespoons of melted butter until well combined.
  3. Slowly pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, whisking continuously until smooth. If you want sweeter crêpes, add 1 tablespoon of sugar.
Resting the Batter
  1. Allow the batter to rest for about 15-30 minutes at room temperature.
Cooking the Crêpes
  1. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and lightly grease it with a bit of butter or oil.
  2. Pour about 1/4 cup of batter into the skillet and immediately swirl it around to coat the bottom evenly.
  3. Cook for about 1-2 minutes, or until the edges start to lift and the surface appears set. Flip the crêpe and cook for an additional 1 minute on the other side.
Finishing Touches
  1. Transfer the cooked crêpe to a plate and cover it to keep warm. Repeat the process with the remaining batter.
  2. Fill the crêpes with your desired sweet or savory fillings, roll them up, and serve.

Notes

For best results, ensure batter consistency is smooth and not too thick. Never skip the resting period to guarantee a lighter crêpe. Avoid a too-hot skillet which can burn the crêpes. For a gluten-free option, substitute the flour with a gluten-free blend.
