Ingredients

  • 1.5 pounds ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 0.25 cup ketchup for mixing
  • 1 piece egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 0.5 cup ketchup (for topping)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, finely chopped onion, bread crumbs, milk, ketchup, egg, salt, black pepper, and Worcestershire sauce.
  3. Mix the ingredients until well combined but be careful not to overmix.
  4. Transfer the mixture to a loaf pan or shape it into a loaf on a lined baking sheet.
  5. Spread the additional 1/2 cup of ketchup evenly over the top of the meatloaf.
Baking
  1. Place the meatloaf in the preheated oven and bake for about 1 hour, until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
  2. Once done, remove it from the oven and let it rest for about 10 minutes.
  3. Slice the meatloaf and serve it hot with your favorite sides.

Notes

For variations, consider using ground chicken or turkey instead of beef. Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for 3-4 days or frozen for up to three months.
