Ingredients
  

For the cookie dough
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure butter is softened to room temperature
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Beat until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  5. Gently fold in the chocolate chips.
  6. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
Baking
  1. Bake for 9 to 11 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
  2. Remove from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

To achieve thicker cookies, chill the dough for about 30 minutes before baking. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
