Ingredients

For the Marinade
  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken thighs (or breasts)
  • ΒΌ cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon rice wine (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil (for grilling)
Optional Garnishes
  • to taste sliced green onions
  • to taste sesame seeds

Method

Preparation
  1. In a bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, rice wine, and black pepper until combined.
  2. Slice the chicken thighs into thin strips and add them to the marinade. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or up to 4 hours for intensified flavor.
Cooking
  1. If using a grill, preheat it to medium-high heat. For a stovetop method, use a skillet over medium-high heat with a little vegetable oil.
  2. Once preheated, add the marinated chicken to the grill or skillet, cooking until browned and cooked through, approximately 5-7 minutes per side.
  3. Transfer the cooked chicken to a platter and garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds. Enjoy!

Notes

Marinate chicken overnight for more flavor. Avoid overcrowding the pan for even cooking. Try alternative proteins like beef or tofu.
