  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream Adjust for desired creaminess.
  • 1 teaspoon peppermint extract Adjust to taste.
  • 1 pinch salt Enhances flavor.
  • Optional food coloring For festive colors.

  1. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened unsalted butter until it's light and fluffy, about 1-2 minutes.
  2. Gradually add the powdered sugar, followed by the pinch of salt, and mix until combined.
  3. Slowly drizzle in the heavy cream and peppermint extract, mixing until the dough comes together and is smooth. If desired, add food coloring to create fun shades!
  4. Dust your hands with powdered sugar to prevent sticking and roll the dough into small balls or use a mint mold. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  5. Allow the shaped butter mints to sit for at least 30 minutes to firm up. If you prefer a harder texture, you can refrigerate them for a while longer.
  6. Once set, enjoy your homemade butter mints or package them as gifts for friends and family.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks or refrigerate for up to a month. Freeze for longer storage, lasting up to three months. No need to reheat before serving.
