Preparation
- In a small bowl, combine warm milk and sugar. Sprinkle the yeast on top and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes, until it becomes frothy.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. Create a well in the center, and add in the melted butter and activated yeast mixture. Then add the egg.
- Mix everything until a dough begins to form. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about an hour, or until it has doubled in size.
- Once risen, punch the dough down and divide it into 8 equal portions. Shape each piece into a ball and flatten slightly.
- Place the shaped buns on a lined baking sheet, cover, and let them rise for an additional 30 minutes.
- While the buns are rising, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- If desired, brush the tops with a little melted butter and sprinkle sesame seeds. Bake for 15-18 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let them cool on a wire rack before serving. Enjoy your homemade creation!
