Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 slices slices of bread (whole grain, white, or sourdough) Your choice of bread
  • 1 each egg
  • 2 slices slices of cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or Halal-friendly option)
  • 1 slice slice of cooked Halal sausage or protein Vegetarian option available
  • 1 tbsp butter For grilling
  • to taste pinch salt and pepper

Method

Preparation
  1. Start by heating your griddle or a non-stick frying pan over medium heat. While that warms up, prepare your ingredients. Butter one side of each slice of bread.
Cooking the Egg
  1. Crack the egg into a small bowl, add a pinch of salt and pepper, and whisk it gently. Pour it into the griddle and let it cook until the edges start to firm up, about 2-3 minutes.
Adding the Cheese
  1. Once the egg is nearly set, place both slices of cheese on top and let them soften. You can place a lid over the pan to help melt the cheese faster.
Assembling the Sandwich
  1. Lay your cooked Halal sausage on top of the cheesy egg, and cover it with the other slice of bread—unbuttered side facing inwards.
Grilling the Sandwich
  1. Carefully flip the sandwich over, gently pressing down for a couple of moments. Grill for another 2-3 minutes on the other side until the bread is golden brown and crispy.
Serving
  1. Slide your Homemade Breakfast Griddle Sandwich onto a plate. Cut it in half and enjoy!

Notes

Substitutions for bread or cheese can be made as per dietary needs. Keep an eye on grilling time to prevent burning. Cheese should be melted properly for the best taste.
