Ingredients
  

Dough Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour You can replace with whole wheat flour for a nuttier taste.
  • 1/4 cup sugar Can reduce for a healthier option.
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (2 1/4 teaspoons) Ensure yeast is fresh.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt Essential for flavor.
  • 1/2 cup milk Warm it to about 110°F.
  • 1/4 cup butter Use dairy-free butter for a dairy-free version.
  • 1 large egg Room temperature is best.
Filling Ingredients
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries Frozen blueberries can be used, toss in flour before adding.
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon Adjust to taste.
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar Can reduce for a healthier option.
Glaze Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup icing sugar Can adjust sweetness to preference.
  • 2 tablespoons milk Adjust consistency as needed.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a bowl, combine the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
  2. In a saucepan, heat the milk and butter until warm (not boiling).
  3. Add this mixture to the dry ingredients along with the egg.
Mixing and Kneading
  1. Mix well until a dough forms, and knead on a floured surface for about 5-10 minutes until smooth.
First Rise
  1. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
Rolling Out
  1. Once risen, punch down the dough and roll it out into a rectangle roughly ¼ inch thick.
Filling
  1. Spread a thin layer of softened butter over the dough, sprinkle with cinnamon and brown sugar, and scatter fresh blueberries evenly.
Shaping
  1. Roll the dough tightly, starting from one edge, and cut into 1-inch rolls.
  2. Place them in a greased baking dish.
Second Rise
  1. Let them rise for about 30 minutes until puffy.
Baking
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
Glazing and Serving
  1. Mix icing sugar and 2 tablespoons of milk until smooth. Drizzle over the warm rolls.
  2. These rolls are best served warm and made the same day!

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for up to a month. Reheat at 350°F for 10 minutes.
