Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt until well mixed.
- Add the chilled, cubed unsalted butter to the bowl. Using a pastry cutter or your fingertips, work the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- Gradually stir in the milk until the dough starts to come together. Be careful not to overmix.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface. Gently knead the dough 4-5 times until it is smooth. Roll it out to about 1-inch thick.
- Use a biscuit cutter or a glass to cut out round biscuits from the dough. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Baking
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown.
- Remove from the oven, let them cool slightly, and serve warm.
Notes
Chill the ingredients for flaky layers. Don’t overwork the dough and feel free to experiment with milk alternatives.
