Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed Can substitute with ghee or coconut oil.
  • ¾ cup milk Can use a plant-based alternative for a dairy-free version.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Whisk them thoroughly.
  3. Work the cold, cubed butter into the flour mixture using a pastry cutter or your fingertips until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Gradually pour in the milk while stirring gently until just combined.
  5. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead it gently until it holds together. Pat it out to about 1 inch thick.
Baking
  1. Using a biscuit cutter or a drinking glass, cut out rounds and place them on a greased baking sheet, closely together.
  2. Bake in the preheated oven for about 12 to 15 minutes, until golden brown and flaky.
  3. Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving.

Notes

To keep biscuits flakier, use cold ingredients and avoid overworking the dough. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days, or freeze for later enjoyment.
