  • ½ cup dried hibiscus petals Use fresh or high-quality dried hibiscus flowers for the best flavor.
  • 4 cups water Bring to a rolling boil.
Optional Ingredients
  • 2-3 tablespoons honey or sugar Add according to taste for sweetness.
  • 1 fruit lemon or lime Juice for added zing.

Preparation
  1. In a medium-sized pot, bring the 4 cups of water to a rolling boil.
  2. Once the water is boiling, add ½ cup of dried hibiscus petals.
  3. Reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 5 minutes.
  4. After simmering, remove the pot from heat and add honey or sugar to taste.
  5. Pour the tea through a fine mesh strainer to separate the hibiscus flowers from the liquid.
  6. Serve hot or chill it for a refreshing iced treat.
  7. For an extra touch, garnish with a slice of lemon or a sprig of mint.

Notes

Hibiscus Tea can be stored in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 5 days. For longer storage, freeze in ice cube trays. Reheat gently without boiling to preserve flavor.
