Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 cup Dried hibiscus petals
  • 1-2 inches Fresh ginger, thinly sliced
  • 4 cups Water
  • to taste Honey (optional)
  • 1 Lemon, sliced (optional)

Method

Preparation
  1. In a medium-sized pot, bring 4 cups of water to a rolling boil.
  2. Once boiling, add the dried hibiscus petals and sliced ginger into the pot. Stir briefly to combine.
  3. Allow the mixture to simmer for about 10-15 minutes. The longer it simmers, the more intense the flavor will be.
  4. After simmering, remove the pot from heat. Use a fine mesh strainer to separate the liquid from the hibiscus petals and ginger slices.
  5. Stir in honey to taste, if using, and pour the tea into mugs. Garnish with lemon slices for an added zest. Enjoy while warm!

Notes

For substitutions, you can use floral tea bags that include hibiscus. Fresh mint can also be added. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze in ice cube trays for long-term storage.
