Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 loaf 1 loaf of French or Italian bread (about 12 inches long)
  • 1/2 cup 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
  • 4 cloves 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup 1/4 cup fresh parsley, finely chopped (or 1 tablespoon dried) Fresh parsley is recommended for better flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • to taste Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional) Optional for those who enjoy extra flavor.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, parsley, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated.
  3. Cut your loaf of bread in half lengthwise. Optionally, you can slice it into diagonal pieces for individual servings.
  4. Generously spread the garlic butter mixture over the cut sides of the bread, ensuring every inch is covered.
  5. If desired, sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese over the garlic butter for an extra burst of flavor.
  6. Place the bread halves on a baking sheet, cut sides up, and bake in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are crispy and golden brown.
  7. Remove the bread from the oven, let it cool for a minute, and then cut into slices. Serve it warm.

Notes

For the best flavor, use fresh herbs. Ensure butter is at room temperature for easy spreading. For extra crispiness, turn on the broiler for the last minute of baking but watch closely to prevent burning. Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to three days.
