Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 pounds potatoes, peeled and diced Yukon Gold or red potatoes are preferred for creaminess.
  • 1 cup Heinz mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons mustard (yellow or Dijon)
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 stalks celery, diced
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste

Method

Preparation
  1. Begin by placing your diced potatoes in a pot filled with cold water. Bring it to a boil and let the potatoes cook until they’re fork-tender, usually around 15-20 minutes.
  2. Once cooked, drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Using a potato masher, gently smash them—aim for a rustic look, as you want some chunks for texture.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the Heinz mayonnaise, mustard, salt, and pepper. Adjust to your taste!
  4. Gently fold the chopped onion and celery into the smashed potatoes. Pour the dressing over the mixture and fold until well-coated.
  5. Transfer your Heinz Smashed Potato Salad to a serving bowl. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld beautifully.

Notes

For toppings, consider using paprika, fresh herbs like parsley or chives, or diced pickles for extra flavor. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
