Ingredients
  

Base Ingredients
  • 1 medium head cabbage, chopped Cored and chopped into 2-inch pieces.
  • 1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey) Cooked and seasoned to your liking.
  • 1 cup cooked rice White or brown.
  • 1 onion, chopped Adds savory flavor.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Essential for flavor.
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce Key player in the dish.
  • 1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes Adds extra zing!
Seasonings
  • 1 tsp paprika Add to taste.
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning For aromatic flavor.
  • to taste salt and pepper Season to taste.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Chop the cabbage into pieces and boil in salted water for about 5 minutes until slightly tender. Drain and set aside.
  3. Cook the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat until browned. Add chopped onion and garlic, and cook until the onions are translucent.
Assembly and Cooking
  1. Combine the cooked meat mixture with rice, tomato sauce, and diced tomatoes in a large bowl. Season with paprika, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  2. Layer the bottom of a greased casserole dish with a portion of the cabbage.
  3. Spread the meat mixture over the cabbage layer, followed by the remaining cabbage on top.
  4. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the top is golden and bubbly.
  5. Let it rest for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy your cozy meal!

Notes

Pair with a refreshing side salad or crusty bread. Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
