Ingredients

For the Burger Mixture
  • 1 pound ground chicken
  • 1/2 cup crumbled feta cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onion
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for grilling)
For Assembly
  • 4 pieces whole wheat burger buns
  • to taste Tzatziki sauce For topping
  • 1 slice tomato For topping
  • a few slices cucumber For topping
  • a handful lettuce For topping

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground chicken, crumbled feta cheese, chopped parsley, green onion, minced garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until everything is well incorporated but avoid over-mixing to keep the burgers tender.
  2. Divide the mixture into 4 equal parts and shape them into patties, ensuring they are about 1-inch thick. Make a small indentation in the center of each patty to help them cook evenly.
Cooking
  1. Heat your grill or a grill pan over medium-high heat, drizzling a tablespoon of olive oil to prevent sticking.
  2. Place the patties on the grill and cook for 5-7 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
Assembly
  1. Transfer cooked burgers to whole wheat buns and top with tzatziki sauce, slices of tomato, cucumber, and a handful of lettuce.
Serving
  1. Serve immediately with your favorite sides, and enjoy these gourmet burgers at home!

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. You can also freeze uncooked patties wrapped individually for up to 3 months. Thaw in the fridge before cooking.
