  • 1.5 cups apple cider For the signature flavor.
  • 2 cups whole wheat flour Base flour for donuts.
  • 0.5 cups coconut sugar Can be substituted with brown sugar.
  • 1 tsp baking powder Leavening agent.
  • 0.5 tsp baking soda
  • 0.5 tsp salt To enhance flavors.
  • 1 tsp cinnamon For warmth and spice.
  • 0.5 tsp nutmeg Adds a festive flavor.
  • 2 large eggs Room temperature preferred.
  • 0.25 cups melted coconut oil For moistness.
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract Enhances flavor.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the whole wheat flour, coconut sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. In another bowl, combine the apple cider, eggs, melted coconut oil, and vanilla extract. Beat until well mixed.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture, and gently fold until just mixed.
  5. Lightly grease your donut pan with coconut oil and spoon the batter into each mold, filling about 3/4 of the way full.
Baking
  1. Place the pan in your preheated oven and bake for 10-15 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  2. Once baked, remove the donuts from the pan, let them cool for a few minutes, and enjoy them warm.

Notes

Store donuts in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or refrigerate for about a week. They can be frozen for about three months.
