Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease your donut pan to prevent sticking.
- In a large bowl, combine whole wheat flour, almond flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Whisk until well combined.
- In another bowl, mix together apple cider, maple syrup, unsweetened applesauce, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Slowly pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
- Fill each mold in the donut pan about three-quarters full.
Baking
- Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 12-15 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let the donuts cool in the pan for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Enjoy as is or add your favorite toppings.
Notes
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, refrigerate for up to a week, or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat in a microwave or oven when ready to enjoy.
