Method
Preparation
- In a large bowl, mix the ground beef, breadcrumbs, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Form the mixture into oblong patties, about 1 inch thick. Set aside.
Cooking the Onions
- In a large skillet over medium heat, add a drizzle of oil. Add the diced onion and sauté until golden brown and softened, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from skillet and set aside.
Cooking the Patties
- In the same skillet, add more oil if needed, then cook the beef patties over medium heat. Brown them on both sides, approximately 4-5 minutes per side until cooked through.
Preparing the Gravy
- Once the patties are cooked, sprinkle the flour into the skillet and stir to combine with the drippings. Slowly add the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, bringing to a simmer. Stir continuously until the gravy thickens.
Combining
- Add the sautéed onions back into the skillet, allowing the flavors to meld.
Serving
- Plate the patties and pour the onion gravy generously over them. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired.
Notes
Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in a skillet over low heat for even warming.
