Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
Add-ins
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your favorite blend)
  • 1/2 cup diced ham (or a comparable substitute)

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, garlic powder, and salt until well combined.
  3. Pour in the buttermilk and mix until just combined. Be careful not to overmix – a few lumps are okay!
  4. Gently fold in the shredded cheese and diced ham until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  5. In a 9x13 inch baking dish, pour in the melted butter, making sure it covers the bottom evenly.
  6. Scoop spoonfuls of the biscuit mixture and drop them into the melted butter. Leave some space in between each biscuit.
Baking
  1. Place the baking dish in the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes or until the biscuits are golden brown and have risen beautifully.
  2. Once baked, allow to cool for a few minutes before serving warm. Enjoy the cheesy goodness!

Notes

For substitutions, feel free to swap out the diced ham for turkey, veggies, or go vegetarian with different cheese options. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for about 3 days; can also be frozen for up to three months.
