Preparation
- Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out your pizza dough into your preferred shape, aiming for about ¼ inch thick.
- Carefully place your dough directly on the grill grates and grill for about 3-4 minutes until you see grill marks and the bottom is slightly browned.
- Using tongs, flip the dough over, brush the grilled side with olive oil, and season with salt.
- Spread the pesto sauce evenly over the grilled side and top with sliced mozzarella and optional tomato slices.
- Close the grill lid and cook for another 3-5 minutes until the cheese is thoroughly melted.
- Remove from the grill, sprinkle with fresh basil, slice, and enjoy!
Notes
For a healthier twist, consider using whole wheat or gluten-free dough. Keep an eye on the dough while grilling to avoid overcooking. Let the pizza sit briefly before slicing to let toppings set. Refrigerate leftovers for up to 3 days and reheat on the grill or in an oven to maintain crispiness.
