Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Butter one side of each slice of bread. Cut the bread into quarters.
Assembling the Casserole
  1. In a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, lay half of the quartered bread pieces buttered side up.
  2. Sprinkle half of the shredded cheddar cheese over the bread.
  3. Arrange the rest of the bread pieces over the cheese.
  4. Add the remaining cheese on top.

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  2. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread and cheese layers.
