Ingredients

Burger Patties
  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped red onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tbsp fresh mint, chopped
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 whole lemon, juice and zest
  • Salt and pepper to taste
Buns and Toppings
  • 4 pieces whole wheat burger buns
  • sliced cucumbers
  • sliced tomatoes
  • lettuce
  • tzatziki sauce

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, combine ground chicken, chopped red onion, minced garlic, fresh parsley, mint, oregano, lemon juice, and zest. Season with salt and pepper. Use your hands to mix everything together until evenly combined.
  2. Divide the mixture into four equal parts and shape each part into a patty. Make an indentation in the center of each patty to prevent it from puffing up while cooking.
Cooking
  1. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. You can also use a skillet or grill pan if you don’t have access to an outdoor grill.
  2. Place the patties on the grill and cook for about 5-6 minutes per side, or until they reach an internal temperature of 165°F and are golden brown with nice grill marks.
Assembly
  1. Toast the whole wheat burger buns on the grill for a minute or two until golden. Place a cooked patty on the lower half of each bun and top with sliced cucumbers, tomatoes, and a generous dollop of tzatziki sauce. Add the top bun and enjoy your delicious Greek Chicken Burgers!

Notes

Use fresh herbs whenever possible for better flavor. Don't over-mix the chicken mixture to keep the burgers tender. Feel free to add other toppings like feta cheese for an extra twist.
