  • 1 box yellow cake mix Any brand of yellow cake mix will work.
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted To enhance the flavor.
  • 1 large egg This binds the cake base together.
For the Filling
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened Ensure it's softened for smooth mixing.
  • 3 large eggs Add to the filling mixture.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract To enhance the flavor of the filling.
  • 4 cups powdered sugar Provides sweetness and helps form the gooey texture.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the yellow cake mix, melted butter, and 1 egg. Mix until well combined, then pour this batter into a greased 9x13-inch baking pan and spread it evenly.
Filling Preparation
  1. In another mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with an electric mixer until smooth.
  2. Add in the remaining 3 eggs, vanilla extract, and powdered sugar. Mix until the batter is smooth and creamy.
  3. Carefully pour the creamy filling mixture over the cake base in the baking pan.
Baking
  1. Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for about 40-45 minutes, or until the top is set but the center is still gooey.
Serving
  1. Allow to cool for at least 30 minutes before slicing. Serve warm or at room temperature with your favorite toppings!

Notes

Mix the cream cheese well and avoid overbaking for the best gooey texture. You can also add flavors like lemon or almond extract to customize the filling.
